FORT WORTH — Wednesday night was special.

It was Hey, Good Lookin’ and Walkin’ after Midnight , memories of grainy black-and-white television clips and groovy single records, and most of all, a chance to sit in a comfortable hall in 2012 and actually hear the music of Hank Williams and Patsy Cline live — the way they did it 50 to 60 years ago.

The Country Royalty show at Bass Hall was memorable, irresistible and bittersweet, paying homage to two influential talents who both died shockingly young after brief meteoric careers.

Jason Petty, a Tennessee singer-actor who’s well-known for portraying Hank Williams, and Carolyn Martin, an Abilene native and Western swing innovator, didn’t just sing like the music legends.

Hickory, NC – After the stellar premiere and filming of Sammy’s touring production in front of a sold out house and four high definition cameras at the Old Post Office Playhouse, Sammy has moved into the editing phase as he prepares to release his forth coming DVD. Be on the lookout for a firm release date expected sometime in late February or early March.

The touring show will feature stage illusions incorporated into drama, music, dance, and comedy as a theatrical medium to express life and preserve magic’s foundation for future generations. He will share with audiences magic’s rich history by showcasing the art’s masters and presenting classic illusions like Houdini’s Metamorphosis or the renowned Gamolo Stage Levitation. Through music, illusion, and storytelling; tribute will be paid to his cousin Johnny Mercer. Mercer was co-founder of Capitol Records and collaborated with Frank Sinatra, Henry Mancini, and Ray Charles.

CARLYN MARTIN CD NAMED 2011 BEST WESTERN SWING ALBUM

Carolyn Martin’s “Cookin’ With Carolyn” CD was named the
2011 Best Western Swing Album by the Western Music Association.
The award was announced at the WMA’s annual awards show in Albuquerque, NM on November 21, 2011.
Carolyn is thrilled by this honor, and would like to thank the WMA membership and especially the wonderful musicians who played on the record and made the project so much fun. Pictures of the WMA award will be added to Carolyn’s website as soon as they recover from the drive from Albuquerque to Nashville.
